Itinerary

    Step 1 Pickup in Cali (early morning) — 3h transfer through the western Andes to Buenaventura.
    Step 2 Fast Boat to the Pacific Coast (1h) — board a speedboat from the tourist port toward Bahía Málaga Natural National Park.
    Step 3 Whale Watching Tour (1h) — on a boat with a certified local captain. Watch humpback whales leap, slap their tails, and, if lucky, spot calves.
    Step 4 Free Time at the Beach (1h) — swim, relax, snack, or simply listen to the sound of the ocean on a tropical beach.
    Step 5 Return Boat to Port (1h) — back to Buenaventura.
    Step 6 Return to Cali (evening) — 3h drive back, arriving at night.

  • Choose your own adventure (one route per day): Route A — Cultural & Community: visit a nearby Afro-Colombian community; music, crafts, local gastronomy, and community-based tourism. Route B — Raw Untouched Nature: explore the rugged coast of Bahía Málaga with no tourist infrastructure — just you, nature, and the whales.
  • Season: July to October. Babies not permitted. Not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
  • What to bring: light comfortable clothes + light waterproof jacket, sandals or water shoes, sunscreen and repellent, hat, seasickness pills (optional), waterproof phone case, reusable water bottle, light snacks or fruit.
